Varna for all: The Sea Garden

Accessible tour route for people with mobility impairments using wheelchairs.

The "Sea Garden" route has been carefully selected to include flat and wide alleys, minimal elevation changes, good pavement, and opportunities for rest stops. It allows comfortable movement for wheelchair users, parents with strollers, and people using mobility aids, while combining nature, culture, and maritime history. All stops are outdoors or have been pre-checked for accessibility, ensuring comfort and safety for visitors.

1. Entrance - Main Gate of the Sea Garden

• The oldest and largest seaside park in Bulgaria, established in 1881 by Mayor Mihail Koloni, based on the concept of Anton Novak.
• The entrance colonnade was built in 1939.

2. The Sea Casino

• An iconic building of Varna, dating from 1926, with a panoramic sea view.
• Photo stop and opportunity to explore both the interior and exterior. Optional visit to the Art Gallery at the Sea Casino.

3. Monument to Ivan Vazov

• The Patriarch of Bulgarian literature.
• The monument was erected during Ivan Vazov’s lifetime with funds collected by teachers and students from Varna’s schools.

4. Alley of the Revival

• A thematic alley dedicated to the Bulgarian National Revival, featuring bust-monuments of educators, clergymen, revolutionaries, and national heroes.

5. The Pantheon & The Cosmonauts’ Alley

• The Pantheon was built in honor of the fallen fighters during the period 1923–1944.
• View towards the Palace of Culture and Sports and monuments to figures connected with cosmonautics.

6. Zoo

• Visit to the zoo area. The entrances and main alleys are adapted for wheelchair users.
• Return along the same route.

7. Public Astronomical Observatory & Planetarium Nicolaus Copernicus 

• The complex was opened in 1968. It consists of an observatory, a planetarium, and a Foucault pendulum.
• Photo stop at the monument to Nicolaus Copernicus.

8. Relief Model of the Black Sea & The Aquarium

• A relief model of the Black sea with the major coastal cities marked.
• The Aquarium building was opened in 1932, designed by architect Dabko Dabkov.

9. Drazki Ship and The Naval Museum

• Photo stop at the old Varna lighthouse, the torpedo boat “Drazki”, and the outdoor exhibition of the Naval Museum.
